Olive Oil from the Wairarapa and Kapiti regions swept the field in the 2021 New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil Awards held in October winning all top 5 major awards. All 5 winning olive oils were pressed by The Olive Press and included TOP’s Pressed Gold Midori no Yuzu agrumato which was awarded Best Flavoured Oil.


Best Boutique winners were Tauherenikau Olives, Wairarapa for their Olive2Oil Blend.

Reserve Best Boutique was awarded to Totara Tunnel, Kapiti for their Frantoio.

Best in Show was taken out by Kapiti Olives for their Frantoio Blend.

Reserve Best in Show went to Blue Earth Olive Oil, Wairarapa for their Blue Earth Intense


Of the 10 Best in Class winners for 2021 – 8 were from the Wairarapa and Kapiti regions, one to the Bay of Plenty and one to Nelson. TOP pressed 7 of the Best in Class winning oils.

Of the 81 Gold Medals awarded at the Show this year 34 (42%) went to olive oils pressed by TOP and TOP was awarded Best Processor for the eighth year running. A great achievement and a real confirmation of the quality of fruit produced by our local olive growers and a testament to their dedication and commitment to producing premium quality olive oils.

With such a strong result for the 2021 season, we are excited to see what the next season will bring.
